Community Services- Bridge: Sensory Loss Communication Training
Join facilitators Angela Brown & Theresa Merrifield from Deafblind Services Ontario for a unique
workshop which will provide learning opportunities for organizations or individuals looking to expand
their knowledge and understanding of individuals with a sensory loss and communication need.
Learning Objectives for the day include:
- Sensory loss: an understanding of the impact this has on the lives of individuals.
- Explore the role of the support worker when working with an individual
with sensory loss. - An understanding of the impact of sensory loss has on communication and expand knowledge of adapted communication methods.
- Vision: common eye conditions and maximizing residual vision.
- Hearing: types of hearing loss and maximizing residual hearing.
