Understanding Grief & Loss and How to Support People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Coping with Grief & Loss

Learning Outcomes: Participants will learn about what grief is, how it affects a person, and what is normal. The participant will also learn about the stages and theories related to grief as well as what the research says about grief and loss as it pertains to someone with an intellectual or developmental disability. The participant will learn tips and strategies for supporting a person who is grieving.

Target Audience: This workshop is a 2-part session (full day), designed for Direct Support Professionals working in the field of developmental disabilities and intellectual disabilities.
