Learning Outcomes
• Better understanding of how a person with a developmental disability interacts with the criminal justice system
• How to access court supports for a person with a developmental disability should they
come into contact with the justice system
Meet Our Presenters
Carly Baz-Ficociello is a Dual Diagnosis Justice Case Manager in the Tri-County area. She
graduated from the University of Windsor in 2016 with her Honors B.A. in Psychology and
Disability Studies. She has worked in the field of Developmental Services for 10 years in a
facet of different areas including direct support, administration, and case management. She
has been with Regional Support Associates as a case manager since 2018 and continues to
learn from her colleagues, clients and community, and looks forward to continuing her career in this field.
Karen James is a person of lived experience of both Mental Health and Addiction. She is a
Registered Psychotherapist who has worked in the field of Mental Health and Addiction for
the last 28 years. She has been a tireless advocate for people struggling with these issues
and has won The Royal’s Inspiration award as well as Everest College’s Teacher of the Year
Award. She has volunteered on numerous committees and participated in a number of research projects. Karen believes in the power of recovery.
Dan Ross has been a Dual Diagnosis Justice Case Manager in the Oxford/Elgin, London/
Middlesex, Huron/Perth and Grey/Bruce regions since 2013. Dan has worked in the Developmental Service sector for 15 years, starting out as a volunteer then becoming a direct support staff before switching to case management.
