Mental Health Awareness
Workshop Description: 1 in 3 people will experience a mental health issue but unfortunately the stigma that surrounds mental illness is one of the biggest barriers to seeking help. We will explore stigma and the impact it has and then provide an overview plus helpful strategies for the following topics: Depression, Seasonal Affective Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Self Injury, Borderline Personality Disorder.
Lori Veltkamp has 16 years of experience working in the mental health field. Recently, she was a co-owner in a successful mental health and training company for 3 years providing numerous customized and certified trainings across Ontario and Northern Quebec. She is the sole proprietor with Mental Health READY. Lori has been a certified Master Trainer in ASIST Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training with Living Works since 2000. She is a certified trainer in Mental Health First Aid Basic and Youth with the Mental Health Commission of Canada. Lori is also a certified Trainer and Facilitator in Self Abuse Finally Ends, a psychoeducational program to assist persons in stopping their abusive behaviors. Previously, Lori worked as a Family Support Worker and Public Educator with Canadian Mental Health Association Leeds Grenville for over 13 years.
